Blackwell's EPA: Running backs

[These statistics do not include the most recent weeks games.] Briefly, De'Anthony Thomas is still the nation's most dangerous runner. More impressive than his .83 NEPA/PP and his .20 NEPA/PP lead on the rest of the country is his .64 NEPA/PP lead on teammate Kenjon Barner. The gap between Thomas and Barner is larger than the gap between Orwin Smith, the nation's second most efficient running back, and the FBS average. And Barner is no slouch.

We should not overlook what Cody Getz and Dri Archer are doing, though. Thomas is more effective per play, but Getz and Archer are still very productive per play despite being central to their respective offenses. Getz is averaging 7.9 yards per carry and will go over 1,000 rushing yards this weekend against Wyoming in the team's 6th game of the season. If Air Force wins six and gets Getz to a bowl game he'd be on pace to 2,300 yards and 21 TDs - and that from a guy you could fit in a carry-on suitcase.
